CEBU, Philippines — A total of 1,363 individuals received financial aid through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair conducted by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), Department of Social Welfare and Development-7, and other government agencies in Dalaguete, Cebu.
AICS is one of the social welfare services of DSWD. Each beneficiary received P4,000 during the distribution held recently.
The BPSF is a convergence of government programs housed in provinces through caravans. Launched by the Office of the President, the BPSF is a social services caravan that aims to make government services more accessible for the less fortunate Filipinos.
OPAV Undersecretary Terence Calatrava in his speech at the Dalaguete National High School, where the BPSF was conducted, said that this is an initiative of President Marcos which is meant to bring government services closer to the people.
To recall, OPAV have served more than 100,000 constituents in Central Visayas in 2023 availing of the various services offered through the Bayan Babangon Muli caravan services.
Those who came to the caravan in Dalaguete town were treated to a day filled with various benefits from different government agencies.
DSWD-7 regional director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero, who led the ceremonial distribution of AICS, said that DSWD distributed P5.4 million worth of financial assistance to the beneficiaries.
“This is one way to support the efforts of the government to bring its services closer to the people and increase public awareness about other programs and services that DSWD offers,” Lucero said.
For DSWD, it distributed family food packs and financial assistance, conducted information dissemination for other programs and services, and displayed products of the Sustainable Livelihood Program participants during the caravan. (CEBU NEWS)
