CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama tells other city officials and employees to examine their conscience as the election season is coming very soon.

Rama made the call for self-examination after noting that he had been working with three types of individuals at city hall—the concerned, the curious, and the critics.

“No matter what, looking forward, next year is election year, nag-examination of conscience na ba mo?” asked Rama.

He urged his fellow officials and public servants to decide if they truly are in the same boat with him.

“Kauban ba ta? Dili ba mo kauban nga dili kuyog o kuyog nga dili kauban? Are you sure?” Rama added.

He even asked those who were present in yesterday’s flag ceremony at the city hall grounds to approach him if they are with him. There were those who were quick to come near him while others were observed to be sluggish.

“I always in God…trabaho lang gyud ng akoa, dili purhisyo, dili apilag negosyo ang pwesto,” Rama said.

He stressed that he doesn’t care who the employees will support in the elections as long as they have performance to vouch for them.

“Naa ganiy performance, dili gyud mo angay mahadlok,” Rama said.

The mayor said he will just leave the outcome of the elections to God.

“Unsa man ganiy dangatan, ihangad lang gyud kang Sr. Sto. Nino…No matter what, let go, and let God…please be guided anang dapita,” said Rama. — (FREEMAN)
