CEBU, Philippines — Four people, including a couple allegedly operating a drug den at Sitio Plaza, Barangay Apas, Cebu City, were arrested during a buy-bust operation Wednesday afternoon.
Operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- 7 arrested Jonathan Roca, 44; his live-in partner Jovelyn Cajutay, 41; Jerome Moral, 41; and Ahmed Romo, 43.
Roca and Cajutay were the subject of buy-bust operation following information that the couple was running a drug den. During the operation, anti-narcotics agents also chanced upon Moral and Romo visiting the drug den hence their arrest.
Seized from the suspects were six packs of suspected drugs weighing around 16 grams with an estimated value of P108,800. Also seized were the buy-bust money and various drug paraphernalia.
According to PDEA-7, the subjects were placed under surveillance for two weeks after authorities were tipped off by a concerned citizen.
Based on the information the PDEA-7 gathered, the couple could dispose of 30 to 50 grams of illegal drugs a week. Most of their customers are call center agents and habal-habal drivers. The suspects are currently detained at the police custodial facility while criminal complaints for violation of RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared. –/FPL (FREEMAN)
