Former inmate tagged in Banawa shooting
CEBU, Philippines — Police have identified one of the suspects in the shooting incident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old victim in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City Sunday morning.
Police Major Kenneth Albotra, chief of Guadalupe Police Station 9, said they have identified the gunman who shot dead Jeffrey Havel Sahol at Duterte Street in Sitio Banawa. Albotra, however, withheld the name of the suspect due to an ongoing hot pursuit operation.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim were both former inmates at the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan. Sahol was released from jail only recently while the suspect was freed ahead.
The police official believes the two may have met each other while in prison considering that they were both charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law.
Albotra said they conducting a continuing hot pursuit operation against the gunman and his unidentified companion who served as driver of the getaway motorcycle. The police believe that the two are still in Cebu City and had not fled to another place. (CEBU NEWS)
