Toledo to get 2 big infra projects
CEBU, Philippines — Toledo City gears up for two big infrastructure projects, a new terminal and a building for the newly-established Cebu Technological University.
The city s new terminal had its groundbreaking ceremony last Friday with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and her brother, Third District Rep. Pablo John Garcia along with Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales.
The new terminal will sit on a 2-hectare property across the CTU-Toledo City campus in Barangay Sangi. The old terminal in the Poblacion area is already dilapidated, that the construction of a new one is necessary. However, they are putting it away from the Poblacion proper to ease traffic.
Sugbo News, provincial government s official news page, reported that the city allocated P126.04 million for the two-storey terminal across the proposed CTU Toledo City Campus.
The Governor and other officials also unveiled the CTU Toledo City campus site. It was also learned that the Cebu Provincial Government will build a two-storey, six-classroom building for the newly established CTU campus.
This will be Capitol s counterpart in this important development for the city.
Wala man tuod madayon ang akong House Bill kaniadto nga gi-file nga mabutangan og CTU dinhi sa City of Toledo tungod sa kakulian bahin sa yuta, apan karon nalipay sab ko gitagaan sab kog kahigayonan sa kahitas-an nga makatampo, nga ang Province of Cebu makahatag usab og usa ka CTU-designed building, said Garcia, recalling of a bill she filed while in Congress from 2013 to 2019 representing Cebu s Third District.
Now, it s Pablo John s time to see to it that his sister s dream would become a reality by sponsoring House Bill No. 9180, which lapsed into law in June 2022.
This by any measure is a historic day for the City of Toledo, the congressman said.
We will unveil something that will spell a brighter future for our children and our children s children here in the City of Toledo, he added.
Perales thanked Gwen and Pablo John for their unrelenting support for the continued progress and development of her city. (CEBU NEWS)
