CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 said that the entry of dangerous drugs into Central Visayas is already expected due to its market and the entrance shipment points in the region.
This was after the police and law enforcement units intercepted P100 million worth of illegal drugs across the region in a series of operations conducted last weekend.
The information officer of PDEA-7, Leia Alcantara, clarified that the interception of illegal drugs last weekend was a good thing since they weren't yet distributed to different areas of the region, which would make it challenging for the law enforcement authorities to confiscate these drugs had they not been confiscated.
"It's a good indication nga active ato’ng law enforcement. Pursigido gihapon ta sa ato’ng campaign," Alcantara explained.
She also added that the PDEA-7 is grateful for its harmonious relationship with other law enforcement authorities, which was very helpful in their campaign against illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, she cited that in an operation conducted at the end of last year, the agency monitored and identified new drug personalities that are connected with drug groups.
She did, however, clarify that these are recently established drug groups that they are closely watching.
She further said that the agency is targeting breaking these groups through a series of operation and tracing the source and leader of these groups. — (FREEMAN)
