Councilman, “mistress” arrested inside hotel
CEBU, Philippines — A barangay councilor and his alleged mistress were arrested and detained after they were caught checking in a hotel along Hernan Cortes St., Mandaue City, at 8:30 in the evening, Friday, January 26, 2024.
The councilor’s wife sought help from Mandaue City Police Station 4 after she followed her husband, whom she later saw checking in the hotel.
Members of Police Station 4, headed by Police Major Mikhail Mangawang Mallorca, together with the members of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), went to the area to respond to the report and found the two inside a room.
The councilor is 41 years old and currently serves in one of the barangays in Cebu City, while the alleged mistress is 60 years old.
The councilor confirmed that he and his wife has been married for seven years, but their marriage has been plagued with arguments and their relationship was no longer peaceful.
He also added that he did nothing with his alleged mistress and that they were only there to discuss business.
Meanwhile, the councilor’s wife declined to give a statement.
The two arrested individuals are currently detained at Casuntingan Police Station 4 and will face charges under RPC Art. 344. — (FREEMAN)
