Rama to speak at Smart City Summit in Taiwan
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael will be representing the city in a 2024 Smart City Summit and Expo: Digital and Green Transformation in Taipei, Taiwan where he was asked to come up with a seven-member delegation.
In an online interview during the program of Ingna’ng Mayor of a page handled by the Cebu City Government, Rama disclosed that he was invited to be the speaker and was asked to come up with a delegation composed of seven individuals.
The event will be on March 19, 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan and March 21-23, 2024 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
According to Rama, this came following the invitation from the Ambassador of TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of the Philippines). He said the delegation will be composed of the members from the City Hall and the private sector.
“Importante kaayo ni, very substantial, very cerebral,” he said referring to the invitation.
To Rama, the event is very “encompassing” which was established in 2024. Referring to the previous record of the expo, Rama said there were at least 130,000 individuals who joined the other year’s summit; 550 exhibitors; 45 countries; 115 cities, including private sectors; 70 forums, and 513 networking sessions.
When asked if the Mayor will be representing Cebu City on a larger scale, specifically to the world, Rama said it will be a prelude for the Sinulog 2025 which is set to be dubbed as “Sinulog sa Sugbo World 2025.
“Timing na because that is what is Sinulog 2025. This will be a prelude to Sinulog 2025, Hopefully city leaders summit pa. Mao ng this is ever loaded, I call it, ang mga participants and, superpower,” said Rama.
Initially, Rama surfaced the name of Melquiades Feliciano in the delegation as part of the private sector. He added the summit will discuss water and anything about the environment, global warming, and climate change.
As of this writing, Rama is on official leave and is now in Singapore. Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia will serve as acting mayor beginning January 23 until January 27, 2024. (CEBU NEWS)
