CEBU, Philippines — Celestino “Tining” Martinez III has kept his Cebu Provincial Board seat as an ex-officio member, after running unopposed in his reelection bid as Cebu province Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) federation president yesterday.
According to Cebu Province’s, Sugbo News, Martinez, the LNB-Bogo Chapter president, has been serving as an ex-officio member of the Cebu Provincial Board since 2013 by virtue of his being the LnB federation president.
In the same election, City of Naga’s Scott Juvenal Chiong was picked as vice-president while Nerisa Arquillano of San Francisco, Camotes was voted auditor.
The board of directors, on the other hand, are Jonas Binondo of Barili, Cristino Villamor of Alegria, Cherrylyn Santos of Argao, Nico Dotillos of Borbon, Marcelita Casipong of Dumanjug, Reggie Nellas of Samboan, Joseph Thaddues Streegan of Sogod, and Wesley Alimoren of Consolacion.
The newly elected LnB Provincial Federation officers took their oath of office before Gov. Gwen Garcia at the Capitol after the results came yesterday.
Martinez pledged to stay committed to serve the community, especially the barangays.
He identified as among his priorities working on increasing the benefits of barangay workers, especially since they are only receiving an honorarium from the government.
“We also want to align our projects and programs ngadto sa mga barangay para naay synchronization,” Martinez said.
Prior to the LnB federation elections, the governor met with the LnB presidents of each of the municipalities and component cities under Cebu Province.
At that time, an open-forum was also done together with Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial DirectorIan Kenneth Lucero, on the latest laws concerning the barangays. — (FREEMAN)
