CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City's Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) calls on taxpayers to be ahead of their responsibilities as the renewal of business permits will begin today, Jan. 4, 2023.
The annual renewal will last until January 20, 2024 that will take place at the satellite offices in Robinsons Galleria and SM Seaside.
“So gihangyo nato ang mga tax payers nato unta ang naa sa north ari lang diri sa Galleria, aron ang convenience ba, pabor man nila, ang taga South ari lang sa seaside,” said Andrew Borres, head of BPLO.
According to Borres, as early as 8:30 a.m. they will begin their operations and will be closing at 5:30 a.m.
To fully accommodate those who will be renewing their permits, Borres said they will also be opening their services for two Saturdays.
In line with this, Borres also appeals for taxpayers to begin their respective processes at an earlier time to avoid inconvenience.
“Ang uban man gud na mga tawo naanad na last minute na, deadline na. Ato lang ni likayan aron di ma penalty, kay naa may penalty,” said Borres.
Borres then reiterated the importance of renewing the business permits saying it is mandated under law to pay business taxes annually.
He added that for last year, according to their records, they observed an increase of their collection, asserting that the entrepreneurship and business economy of the city has been doing better.
“Kay tungod atong pandemic naay nanira, kay tungod lagi na alkanse, nya kadaghanan sa mga establishments gipang close, so na hinay-hinay nag balik last year,” said Borres.
In line with this, Borres is also hopeful to sustain this economic soar adding that they also observed that more applicants came in for this year. — /ATO (FREEMAN)
