Almost 52K drugs seized in a year in Cebu City
CEBU, Philippines — Close to 52,000 kilos of illegal drugs have been seized by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) since October 2022 until November 2023.
Based on the data released by CCPO, a total of 51,816 kilos of illegal drugs have been seized by CCPO since October 2022 until November 2023 under the tenure of Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog as CCPO di33 33rector.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy city director for operations of the CCPO, this is the result of their 1,978 operations, which led to the arrest of 249 high value individuals and 2,065 street level individuals.
Rafter clarified that the operation is not only by police stations, but also includes special units, such as City Intelligence Unit (CIU), City Drug Enforcement Unit and City Mobile Force Company.
Among the police stations and special units, the CIU is at first with the most seized, followed by the Sawang Calero Police Station 6, and then the CDEU.
The CIU is headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Guardaya, while Police Major Francis Talosig leads Sawang Calero Police Station 6, and Police Major Jonathan Taneo heads the CDEU.
According to Rafter, this shows that even though there are a lot of activities in Cebu City, the CCPO under the leadership of Dalogdog never stops fighting the problem of illegal drugs.
"Diri ninyo makita nga very relentless gyud ang Cebu City Police Office despite the several activities nato. Cebu City man gud considered nga murag sunod sa Manila, naa diri ang sentro tanan,” said Rafter. — (FREEMAN)
