Mayors assure grander Suroy-Suroy

CEBU, Philippines — Southern Cebu mayors have promised that guests could expect a grander "Suroy-Suroy Sugbo" featuring their towns.

In a coordination meeting with Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, they shared their respective preparations for the caravan tour and assured that they have prepared well.

The "Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Southern Heritage Trail" is scheduled on November 30 to December 2, or Thursday to Saturday this week.

Guests of the three-day event should expect to be toured in the southern Cebu towns, which are rich in culture and heritage.

Marti Ybañez, Cebu provincial tourism officer, said around 400 guests have signified interest to join the Suroy-Suroy.

The Capitol is preparing at least five buses for the guests and a coaster for visitors from South Korea.

The tour will feature the towns of Minglanilla, San Fernando, Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy and Boljoon on the first day; Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian and Moalboal on the second day; and Alcantara, Ronda, Dumanjug, Barili, Carcar City, City of Naga, and Talisay City on the third and last day.

Suroy-Suroy Sugbo is flagship tourism program of the Garcia administration that exposes guests not just the physical beauty of the tourism destinations but also the beautiful Cebuano culture and heritage and even the delectable cuisines of the different participating Cebu towns and cities. — (FREEMAN)
