CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Fifth District Representative Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco led the groundbreaking ceremonies held recently for the new standalone Cebu Technological University (CTU) campus in the Municipality of Borbon, Cebu.
“In behalf of the people of Borbon and the 5th District of Cebu, we thank Senator Sonny for making this project come to fruition. We also extend our gratitude to Mayor Noel Dotillos who generously donated the lot where this project will stand,” Frasco said during the event.
In a statement sent by the office of Frasco, it said that the initial budget of ?85 million to construct the first of several university buildings was generously allocated through the help of Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.
The new CTU campus was initiated by Frasco during his first term as congressman when he sponsored Republic Act 11751 or the Act Establishing a CTU Campus in the Municipality of Liloan and the Municipality of Borbon, Cebu which was signed into law on April 27, 2022.
With the groundbreaking of the CTU Borbon campus, this will allow the youth of Borbon and neighboring municipalities to avail of quality education much closer to home.
Borbon Mayor Noel Dotillos, in his speech, thanked Frasco for his efforts in making sure this project becomes a reality.
“The Borbonanons have been wishing for their very own University for the longest time, and soon this will be accomplished because of Congressman Duke Frasco’s efforts. Thank you, Congressman Duke!” said Dotillos.
Also present during the occasion were Provincial Board Member Mike Villamor, Vice Mayor Roy Melgo and municipal councilors, Liloan Mayor Aljew Frasco, Barangay Captain Aquilino Pinote and other barangay captains of Borbon, Engineer Cresyl Canonigo of the Department of Public Works and Highways, and other municipal and barangay officials. — (FREEMAN)
