City dad eyes monthly tree-planting activity

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City Councilor Rey Gealon is looking into doing his tree-planting activity every month, all for the future’s sake.

This came after his first three outings dubbed as “Tanom sa Paglaum” came out successful.

The first three areas where they have their tree-planting activities include two in Tabunan and the last one in Barangay Sinsin last month.

Gealon told The Freeman that he is also scheduling another tree-planting this month and looking into doing it on a monthly basis.

“I am scheduling another tree planting activity in the month of November this year. I undertake to conduct the same on a monthly basis as part of our environmental protection advocacy,” Gealon said.

Gealon stressed that their aim is to “conserve natural resources and plant as many trees as we can”.

Gealon believes that such an activity carries with it ecological and environmental value.

These as trees have valuable contribution to the environment by enhancing the climate, preventing soil erosion and consequent flooding, providing oxygen and improving air quality. (CEBU NEWS)
