CEBU, Philippines — The Cebuanos will be needing more patience for at least 21 days when going around uptown Cebu City, as a portion of the north-bound lanes of Osmeña Blvd. near the Capitol will be closed starting today.
This was announced yesterday by the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), which explained that it will be for the construction of a Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) station.
City Councilor Rey Gealon, newly-installed Traffic Management Committee chairman, appealed to the Cebuanos to be understanding of the possible inconvenience the temporary closure may cause.
“I appeal and beg for understanding and patience to all those who will be affected by this traffic adjustment, as this is indispensable for the expeditious completion of the BRT project," he said, in a statement sent to The FREEMAN.
"Surely, there will be an adverse effect on your routinary schedule of activities, be it school, work, business or anything else, on account of the detour which would consequently delay your arrival to your respective destination,” he added.
The portion of Osmeña Boulevard that would be closed are the lanes going to the direction of the Capitol, from the corner of N. Escario Street until the corner of J. Avila Street. (CEBU NEWS)
