CEBU, Philippines — Three decades of peddling and using illegal drug use ended in an arrest for a 65-year-old man, who yielded 41 small packs of suspected shabu worth P35,000 during a buy-bust operation at dawn yesterday.
Police Major Albert Jay Samson, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (LCPO-CDEU) chief, identified the man as Romeo “Oya” Sejalbo Parama of Sibonga, Cebu.
Samson said they have been monitoring Parama’s activities for a month before planning a buy-bust operation along with the LCPO-City Intelligence Unit.
Yesterday, they handcuffed Parama in Ompad St., Brgy. Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu city after handing to a police poseur buyer the packs of shabu, which weighed five grams,
Samson said Parame, who would only come to Lapu-Lapu to sell illegal drugs, admitted that he gets his supply from somebody on A. Lopez St. in Cebu City.
Parame also admitted to using illegal drugs since he was 34 and later venturing into selling also to sustain his addiction.
He would be charged for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9164 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002). (CEBU NEWS)
