PRO-7 appoints new police chief
CEBU, Philippines — The Talisay City Police Station has a new chief.
In an order dated August 18, Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Director Anthony Aberin has directed the relief of Police Lt. Col. Randy Caballes as the chief of the Talisay City Police Station and transferred him to the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) headquarters.
Caballes has been the Talisay police chief for almost two years already.
Police Lt. Col. Wayne Magbanua, who used to be assigned at the CPPO headquarters, will now sit as the new police chief in Talisay.
One of Caballes’ legacy is the installation of high-tech CCTV cameras where he can monitor the members who are on the field as well as the establishments in the city.
Meanwhile, 237 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Talisay City have successfully completed their education through the Alternative Learning System (ALS).
About 140 male PDLs have completed high school, while 51 of them have graduated from elementary.
On the other end, 36 women finished high school, while 10 have successfully completed elementary education.
Chief Supt. Neil Avisado, BJMP Regional Director, and officials and representatives from the ALS division, witnessed the graduation rites.
The goal of the program is to give hope to prisoners while they are incarcerated, and for them to put to good use the things they have learned inside the facility by the time they regain their freedom.
