PROBE  making do with  equipment lack

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The head of Cebu City’s clearing unit yesterday expressed hope they would finally approve their request for equipment so they can speed up in their work.

Retired general Aderson Comar said that while members of the City’s Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (PROBE) team are the one of the frontliners in clearing operations, they are without proper gear and equipment.

He said they just make do with what they have and what they can borrow.

“Mora mi ani’g sundalo muadto’g gubat nga walay mga armas ug bala,” he told The FREEMAN.

Comar said his people had been tirelessly doing clearing operations, as the city government moves to recover the original width of public roads as well as the three-meter easement of the city’s rivers and other waterways.

He said that amid the arduous jobs they do, these personnel do not have proper equipment and safety gears, like the proper helmets, safety shoes, and working gloves.

“Ang among mga maso, duha ka buok, bali ang usa…. Ang amoang pala, unom, among rake, unom…. Unya ang among bara, upat, hinuwaman pa’ng duha,” said Comar, a retired fire marshal.

“During rescue operations, pwede ra pud na sila magamit.... Pero, kung wala silay tools? Pwede gyud mi mo-side by side with the rescue group kay clearing man ning amoang especialty,” he added.

He said, though, that despite, the lack, they have diligently followed the instructions of Mayor Michael Rama to clear the streets.

“Mura mig nisung ani’g gubat nga walay armas.... But anyway, bisan wala miy mga gamit, amo gihapong gipangtrabaho ang kamanduan sa mayor.  Pero unta mahatagan na mi’g mga gamit,” Comar said. (CEBU NEWS)
