1 thousand cops to secure Pasigarbo  sa Cebu City

CEBU, Philippines — Nearly a thousand policemen will be deployed to secure the upcoming Pasigarbo sa Cebu 2023 on August 27 in Carcar City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, Chief of the Carcar City Police Station, said they have prepared more than 800 policemen for the event that would include augmentation forces from other units such as the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

Of the more than 800 policemen that will be deployed, about 300 of them will guard the contingents of Pasigarbo in Cebu.

Sucalit said that each contingent will be accompanied by five policemen from the town or city that they will represent in Pasigarbo sa Cebu.

“If Consolacion, there is a Consolacion contingent, so there are five from the Consolacion Police Station who will accompany the contingents,” said Sucalit.

There are policemen who will also be assigned to watch and visit the billeting areas of the contingents since, aside from Carcar City, there would also be contingents to be housed in San Fernando and in Sibonga.

Policemen would also be deployed to help manage the flow of traffic in the city, especially for the rerouting that will be implemented where they will put up signage and two policemen will be on guard at every corner.

Adequate security will also be provided at the venue where the ritual showdown will be held for the Pasigarbo sa Cebu.

“The Pasigarbo proper, the route, where the props will be placed, where the dancers will hang out, then where they do street dancing and where to exit, including where you exit is very crucial and the ritual showdown itself is what we have laid out.  These are the areas that we are securing this coming August 27,” said Sucalit.

The police expect that contingents from the various municipalities and cities in the province will start arriving as early as three days before the Pasigarbo sa Cebu proper.

Sucalit said they will heed their prepared deployment plan in Carcar to ensure that no one can take advantage of the opportunity. — (FREEMAN)
