CEBU, Philippines — A ten-wheeler truck driver and his helper died after falling off the cliff in Barangay Libjo, Tabogon in northern Cebu at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
The victims were identified as Ellot Casimero Arriesgado, truck driver, a resident of Brgy. Patao, Bantayan, and Ronald Caraballe Asoquen, 47, helper, married and a resident of Brgy. Talisay, Sta.Fe, in Bantayan Island, Cebu.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Tabogon police, Barangay Captain Nataniel Cortez called the police station to inform about the accident.
When the police checked, they found that the ten-wheeler truck fell off the cliff and flipped over.
The truck carrying assorted goods going to Bogo City reportedly lost control while negotiating downhill which caused it to fall down the slope and ended up in a house owned by Editha Nacor and hit another motorcycle.
According to the report, it took around 11 hours to rescue the victims who were stuck inside the truck by the members of the police and the Tabogon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
They even asked for help from another rescue unit in the nearby city to save the victims but unfortunately, the victims were all dead.
The Tabogon police are still investigating the incident.
