CEBU, Philippines — The latest RP-Mission and Development Foundation's (RPMD) independent and non-commissioned "Boses ng Bayan" nationwide survey showed that three city mayors and one town mayor of Cebu are among the most outstanding mayors of the country.
They are mayors Jonas Cortes (Mandaue City), Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas (Talisay City), Junard “Ahong” Chan (Lapu-Lapu) , and Mayor Rajiv Enad (Minglanilla town).
Cebu congressmen Duke Frasco (5th district) and Pablo John Garcia (3rd district), and Negros Oriental's Manuel "Chiquiting" Sagarbarria, also emerged as the top-performing district representatives of Central Visayas.
In its Facebook post, RPMD said the approval rating of Frasco (94.5 percent), Garcia (93.7 percent), and Sagarbarria (92.1 percent) are in a "statistical tie", demonstrating their "consistent excellence in public service".
They were followed closely by Cebu representatives Rhea Gullas (1st district, 90.1 percent), Cindi Chan (Lapu-Lapu City lone district, 89.7 percent), and Edu Rama, Jr. (Cebu City south district, 89.5 percent).
At third were representatives Jocelyn Limkaichong of Negros Oriental (86.6 percent) and Edgar Chatto of Bohol (86.4 percent).
At fourth were Bohol representatives Maria Vanessa Aumentado (84.5 percent) and Lexie Tutor (83.9 percent), and Cebu's Daphne Lagon (4th district, 83.6 percent).
Cebu 5th district Rep. Janice Salimbagon was fifth place (81.7 percent), followed by Cebu representatives Peter John Calderon (7th district, 78.4 percent), Edsel Galeos (2nd district, 76.1 percent), Emmarie Quano-Dizon (Mandaue City lone district, 74.8 percent); and Rachel del Mar (Cebu City north district, 72.3 percent).
Mayor Enad, on the other hand, received an "extraordinary rating" of 88.5 percent, positioning him as the "Most Distinguished Municipal Mayor" of Cebu province.
He is closely followed by mayors Aljew Frasco (Liloan, 87.8 percent), Cesar Suan (Cordova, 82.6 percent), Teresa Alegado (Consolacion, 80.1 percent), Mytha Canoy (San Fernando, 77.3 percent), and Felijur Quiño (Compostela, 75.7 percent).
The June 25 to July 5, 2023 survey also mentioned Cortes (89.7 percent), Samsam Gullas (88.9 percent), and Chan (88.7) to have continued being the highest-rated and statistically-tied city mayors of Cebu.
At second place is Naga City, Cebu's Val Chiong (82.5 percent), while statistically-tied at third place are Cebu mayors Joie Perales (Toledo City, 80.8 percent) and Carlos Jose Martinez (Bogo City, 80.5 percent)
They are followed by Cebu mayors Michael Rama (Cebu City, 70.3 percent), Mix Durano (Danao City, 68.7 percent), and Patrick Barcenas (Carcar City, 67.8 percent). (CEBU NEWS)
