CEBU, Philippines — Danao city residents can soon avail of the services offered by the newly-established birthing center in the city.
Officials of the Danao City Health Services Office (CHSO), together with Mayor Mix Durano and other guests, recently inaugurated the facility which aims to help residents in the city, especially the mothers, during their pregnancy.
Among the services offered and can be availed of at the said birthing centers include normal delivery; STI and HIV screening; family planning services including the free condom, post-partum IUD and progestin subdermal implant (PSI).
The birthing center costs P5 million while its state-of-the-art equipment is worth P2 million.
The facility is funded through the Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health (DOH)-7 Center for Health Development.
The Danao City Government said they will soon announce when the facility will be made open to the public.
Its design was also made possible through the close coordination of DOH with City Engineering Office and Danao CHSO. Other equipment and supplies are funded by Danao LGU / CHSO.
Meanwhile, 529 elementary and high school students received their Alternative Learning System (ALS) Certificates of Completion during the Graduation Exercises and Moving Up Ceremony 2023 in the city recently.
“Proud kaayo ang siyudad kaninyo ug sa inyong kalampusan karon. Kami nanghinaot nga kining inyong mga nakat-onan mamahimong hinagiban sa atong lungsod sa mga umaabot nga panahon. Padayon sa pagsidlak,” Durano said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Department of Education for the continuous implementation of the ALS program, which has been instrumental in providing opportunities for Danawanons who face various challenges in accessing formal education.
The program aims to support out-of-school youth and adults in acquiring essential knowledge and skills through a flexible learning system. The remarkable number of graduates in this year’s ALS highlights the success and effectiveness of the program in Danao City.
According to the city government, the event not only celebrates academic achievements but also recognizes the determination and perseverance of each graduate and despite the difficulties they encountered in their personal lives, they demonstrated resilience and commitment to their education.
The Danao City Government added that it is proud of the graduates and encourages them to continue their journey of learning and personal growth as their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to others, reinforcing the city’s commitment to education and its vision for progress and development. — Mitchelle L.
