Accused in the killing of Indian couple arrested

CEBU, Philippines — The Balamban police have arrested the accused in the killing of an Indian couple Tuesday dawn in Barangay Prenza.

The accused was identified as Rosenante Silaya Apierdo II, also known as Gadong, 38, tagged as top 5 most wanted person in Cebu province.

Apierdo has reportedly been hiding for more than two months after he was accused of shooting death an Indian couple in Danao City in March this year.

Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Ma. Josefa Pinza Ramos of Branch 90 in Danao City issued the warrant of arrest against Apierdo for two counts of murder on May 24, 2023 without bail.

The accused admitted to the media that he killed the Indian couple and said that he was only ordered to shoot the couple and was paid him P100,000.

“Gisugo ko sa maguwang sa akong gipatay o gisuhulan 100 thousand ana ra siya hiposa na kay gipalayas siya sa balay,” said Apierdo.

Apierdo added that the weapon he used came from the one who gave the order to shoot the victims.

Balamban Police Station chief, Lieutenant Col. Glenn T. Hife, said that when they received the arrest warrant, they then monitored the accused for more than a week after they received information that he was hiding in Balamban town.

During the serving of the arrest warrant on Apierdo, a .45 caliber pistol and a magazine with six bullets were recovered.

Apierdo is now detained at the Balamban Police Station. — (FREEMAN)
