DOLE-7: 26 hired on the spot in Cebu jobs fair

CEBU, Philippines — In celebration of the 125th Independence Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-7 hosted a simultaneous job fairs in Central Visayas yesterday.

DOLE-7 regional director Lilia Estillore said there were 40 employers participated in the Cebu City jobs fair held at the SM Seaside City yesterday where 3,720 job vacancies were up for grabs.

According to Estillore, 26 job applicants were hired on the spot as of yesterday afternoon. There were no data available yet from Dumaguete City where another jobs fair was held at the Robinsons Place.

DOLE-7 has partnered with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in organizing the Kalayaan Job Fairs.

Meanwhile, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma reminds private sector employers to pay the proper salary of workers working yesterday, a regular holiday.

Laguesma issued Labor Advisory No. 13, Series of 2023, stipulating the proper computation of workers’ wages for the regular holiday.

The Labor Advisory is pursuant to Proclamation No. 42, Series of 2022, as amended by Proclamation No. 90, Series of 2022, which declares the regular and special (non-working) days for 2023. — (FREEMAN)
