BPO firm gives supplies, trainings to city schools
CEBU, Philippines — Hundreds of learners from several public schools in the hinterlands of Cebu City got donations while two other schools got free training from a BPO company.
Last Saturday, Wipro showed it cared for the youth and visited at least three public schools, and donated some school supplies.
The schools that serve as beneficiaries include Tagbao, Bonbon, and Sudlon 1.
Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros being the chairman of the committee on education in the City Council selected these schools for the said company’s corporate social responsibility.
Hontiveros hopes that with this, more kids will be inspired to study harder despite all the challenges that come their way while also hoping for more companies to help the city government in its educational programs.
The Freeman learned that there are a total of 170 learners from Tagbao who received school supplies as well as some canned goods, etc.
For Bonbon and Sudlon 1, there were 100 learners each that received the same donation from Wipro.
Hontiveros also told The Freeman that Wipro is also offering a free program in Sudlon 1 for its senior high schools.
Earlier, the said BPO also partnered with Hontiveros for free training in Guadalupe.
After the training in the basics of jobs in a BPO, those who have potential may also land a job under them. —/GMR (FREEMAN)
