5,000 jobs up for grabs in Central Visayas

CEBU, Philippines —  Over 5,000 job vacancies are available for jobseekers to apply during a simultaneous job fairs the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-7 has scheduled in Cebu City and Dumaguete City on June 12, Independence Day.

“We continue to help expand employment opportunities. And it is our mandate that we promote gainful employment opportunities for the public through the conduct of job fairs. Through this initiative, we hope to produce more hired on the spot or HOTS thereby freeing them from unemployment or underemployment. We encourage everybody who is looking for a job to take full advantage of our Kalayaan job fairs on June 12,” DOLE-7 regional director Lilia A. Estillore said.

DOLE-7 has partnered with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in organizing the Kalayaan Job Fairs to be held at SM Seaside City Cebu and at the Robinsons Place in Dumaguete City.

As of June 8, 2023, DOLE-7 has recorded a total of 5,245 vacant positions that are up for grab.

For the Cebu City job fair, there are 2,317 available positions waiting to be filled from 30 participating employers. In Dumaguete City, jobseekers can choose from the 2,078 local positions available and around 850 postings for overseas employment that come from the 46 participating employers.

Estillore encouraged all jobseekers in Cebu to take advantage of the job fair since there will also be transportation assistance that will be provided.

Estillore said that this is in coordination with the Department of Manpower Development and Placement, ANGKAS, and My Bus. Job applicants can ride My Bus for free while Angkas offers P25 discount for those who will use their promo code AKSXDMDP in booking.

Among the job positions available in Cebu are health care associates (200), retail associates (200), service crew (200), social media specialists (100), customer representatives (100), and outbound sales representatives (100).
