CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government is planning to implement the beep card system in the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT) which is currently located at the SM City Cebu grounds in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu city.
Beep cards is a centralized automated ticketing system that is being implemented now in the other Capitol-run facility, the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) in Natalio Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who chaired the Economic Enterprise Council (EEC), pronounced this plan of development in CNBT for a “comprehensive ticketing system and fare collection”.
In 2021, the Capitol has partnered with a private firm Topline Hi-Tech and Synergy Corporation for the implementation of the modern ticketing system using reloadable cards at the CSBT with an aim for smooth and seamless purchase of tickets at the terminal saving the passengers from enduring long queues in purchasing ticket especially during peak season.
The card which has QR code will serve as an access pass for the passenger to the terminal using the automated turnstile installed at the gate.
The modern ticketing system is currently on the roll at the CSBT. And now the Capitol wants it to be installed at the CNBT.
Topline executive Mike Lim welcomed the said development and said they already conducted an assessment in the area for the said plan, according to the Capitol Information Office.
Garcia asked the private firm to conduct an in-depth study of the proposed installation of the development including its financial projections.
Another meeting will be held between the Capitol and the firm on June 2 for more discussion on the proposed development. (CEBU NEWS)
