CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-7 is regularly conducting surprise drug tests on their personnel to make sure no one is involved in using illegal drugs.
Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of PRO-7 regional director, Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, said the regional office wants the police to be clean before enforcing the law.
Pelare added that PNP Chief, General Benjamin Acorda Jr., is focusing on the development of the integrity of the police while assuring that no personnel of PRO-7 is involved in illegal drugs since they cannot advance their campaign if there are police involved in the illegal activities.
"This is part of our internal cleansing effort kita ninyo sa atong mga PPOs ug CPOs their drug testing is continuous and rest assuredly this will be continued sige ni siya regular ni siya nga activity sa Philippine National Police," said Pelare.
If one is found positive for illegal drugs, an administrative case will be filed against him that could result in dismissal from service.
Pelare said that apart from being fired from their jobs, the image of the PNP will also be tarnished.
"We hate illegal drugs so kung naay mapatud-an after due process nga involved, nigamit or apil sa illegal drugs, the PNP will really enforce dismissal," said Pelare. — (FREEMAN)
