CEBU, Philippines — Foreign speakers have been invited to the Cebu City Waterfront Development Summit on May 11 to 12, 2023.

They are from the Netherlands, Japan, and Hawaii together with some speakers from Metro Manila.

During the 458th founding anniversary of Fort San Pedro the other day, the chairman of the Cebu City Waterfront Development Commission (CCWDC), Vice Mayor Raymond Garcia, revealed that the output of the summit will serve as a guide for any development in the waterfront area of Cebu City.

He added that the services of the invited speakers are free with the goal of helping the campaign of Cebu City for the development of waterfront areas.

The government intends to recover, repair as well as develop the waterfront areas of the city as well as strengthen the CCWDC.

Garcia said that aside from extensive establishment of the heritage district, another area of waterfront will be a business district on the side of the South Road Properties.

This will increase the development of the economy of the city and will also provide great employment opportunities.

Cruise ships will soon sail the seas of Cebu City and the public will be able to see them through the boardwalk near the North Reclamation Area.

This plan is part of another branch of beautification of the waterfront area of the city and it is under creative district.

Garcia proudly announced that the first Waterfront Development Summit will be held at the National Museum, the former Malacañang in Cebu.

He is grateful to those in charge of the museum for having no hesitation in responding to his request that the summit be held in that area. — GMR (FREEMAN)
