‘Hitman’ arrested for drugs

CEBU, Philippines — An alleged hitman was arrested in a buy-bust operation in sitio Negative, Barangay Carreta, Cebu City Saturday afternoon.

The operation was conducted by members of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of Mabolo Police Station 4 led by Police Major Eraño S. Regidor.

The arrested person was identified as Albert Zamora Bacarisas, also known as Talan, 33, a resident of the area. The suspect yielded 25.7 grams of suspected shabu worth P174,760 and a 38 revolver with two bullets.

According to Regidor, Bacarisas is one of the hitmen of a drug personality in Barangay Carreta. He is also the suspect in the shooting of barangay tanod Saturnino Duaso Bacarisas in the barangay on January 29, 2023.

Regidor added that the source of Bacarisas’ illegal drugs came from an inmate at the Cebu City Jail.

During the operation, five medium packs of five grams and 14 small packs of suspected shabu, and a 38 revolver with two bullets were recovered from the suspect.

The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 and RA 10591 for illegal possession of firearms. —/GMR (FREEMAN)
