CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office and the Cebu Police Provincial Office have finalized their security measures and deployment for the observance of Holy Week.
The CCPO will start deploying their personnel for the Holy Week on April 5.
Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, city director of CCPO, said that he will visit churches where they are encouraged to put up tarpaulins with security tips on how to avoid untoward incidents.
During the Holy Week, Dalogdog said they will not only watch the churches, but also other places that have religious activities.
They will also set up a police assistance desk at the ports and terminals.
Meanwhile, the CPPO will deploy policemen in municipalities that have major events such as Minglanilla, the site of the Sugat Kabanhawan, as well as the Bantayan Island, one of the places people go to during Holy Week.
The Tourist Police Unit of CPPO will deploy personnel in 20 tourist destinations, tourist police assistance desks and seven Port Tourist Assistance Desks in Cebu Province.
In order to avoid traffic congestion, the police will be deployed to monitor the traffic flow.
The CCPO and CPPO have not monitored any threats during Holy Week but they stated that they will not be complacent and will implement strict security measures.
