Rama against sending of city cops to Negros Oriental
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has opposed the sending of police personnel from Cebu City to the Province of Negros Oriental.
The Cebu City Police Office is supposed to be preparing more than 340 police personnel to be sent to Negros Oriental after receiving an order from the Police Regional Office-7 to be added to the police force following the desire to mobilize all the police in that province.
But when Rama learned of that order, he blocked it saying he could not allow the number of CCPO forces to be reduced.
CCPO director, Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, said that after the mayor’s objection, he immediately called PRO-7 and it responded quickly since the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-7 will be sent to Negros Oriental.
“Pagka balo nako nga dili mosugot si mayor so ako pud gitawagan ang among DRDO (deputy regional director for operation) si Police Colonel Noel Flores unya gi inform pud niya sa RD so mao to si RD pud mismo nag ingon nga dili madayon na kay naay RMFB ang ipadala didto sa Negros,” said Dalogdog.
Dalogdog admitted that many of his personnel are worried about being transferred to Negros Oriental because they will leave their families in Cebu City if the deployment would push through.
Despite this, Dalogdog clarified that the police did not oppose the order being their policy that they are ready to be deployed anywhere. — GMR (FREEMAN)
