CEBU, Philippines — A couple and their daughter died in a vehicular accident involving a sedan and a wing van at the national highway in Barangay Dunggoan, Danao City Tuesday afternoon.
Police identified the fatalities as Erwin Bacalso Mondejar, his wife Imelda, and their daughter Erin Bliss. Their son, Imer Betelquese, survived the accident and is now confined at the provincial hospital in Danao City.
Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Gomez, of the Danao City Police Station, said the victims were on their way to Cebu City when their black sedan collided with the wing van driven by Nolin Batobalonos, 33, who was on his way to deliver feeds in the northern towns.
According to the police, their initial investigation showed the victims were natives of Southern Leyte.
“Mao to iyang giistorya nga padung ni ang auto. Iyang giserbatoan but nilargo man nuon sa atubangan,” Gomez said.
Due to the impact of the collision the victims died on the spot. Gomez said they have already notified the families of the victims in Leyte while the driver of the wing van is currently detained at the Danao City Police Station. — FPL (FREEMAN)
