CEBU, Philippines — The Balamban municipal government has promised to give cash reward to anyone who can give vital information that would lead to the identification of the individual who left the dead fetus in Barangay Lamesa Dumpsite.
Balamban Mayor Ace Stefan Binghay said he would give P10,000 to those who can provide information and cooperate with the police in the investigation.
Binghay encouraged them to contact the Balamban Police Station or present themselves at the police office and give their statements.
Last Monday, a resident in Barangay Lamesa reported having found the fetus packed inside an ice cream container that was wrapped in plastic.
The unborn child was estimated to be around 24 weeks old.
A child scavenger who was looking through recyclables that he could sell was believed to have found the fetus.
In the initial investigation, the Balamban Police said the fetus could have been carried by the LGU-Balamban Mini Dump Truck that would deliver garbage to the dumpsite from Barangay Cantuod.
However, they said they do not discount the possibility that the fetus could have come from another place and was only left by the person responsible at the landfill.
Authorities continue to track the person liable for the act.
Meanwhile, the fetus was brought to the Gemma Funeral Homes in Barangay Cantuod for proper disposition. — GAN (FREEMAN)
