CEBU, Philippines — The Talisay City College was chosen to be a partner of a Japanese-owned Cebu-based ESL school for its short-term language program for foreign students.
Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas revealed that Japanese national Shigeru Tanaka, CEO of Willies English, paid a courtesy call to his office the other day to discuss his plans in the city.
“Mr. Tanaka reached out to our local government unit (LGU) to express the interest of the Willies English ESL students to study here in Cebu for a short term language study abroad program,” Gullas said.
Tanaka’s school had chosen Talisay City College for this program to let their ESL students experience good quality education.
Aside from that, it is also an opportune time for the foreign students to learn and experience the culture of the Talisaynons while learning the English Language.
“We give great value to education in the City of Talisay and we are open to opportunities that would further develop our educational programs,” Gullas added while assuring support to Tanaka’s plans.
