CEBU, Philippines — After several months of waiting, the rehabilitation of a depressed portion of a road in Barangay Busay, Cebu City has finally started.
Councilor Jerry Guardo said it's been several months now that the road near Chateau de Busay showed cracks which was worsened by heavy rainfalls resulting in soil erosion.
At least two houses have already been damaged due to constant earth movement around them.
“Slowly, ni-erode gyud na siya…and lately, dako na gyud ang damage bitaw…and it already resulted to damaging structures sa ubos,” Guardo told The Freeman.
Aside from the inconvenience it has caused to the motorists passing the area, it is also very dangerous that an immediate rehabilitation works should be done.
“The area really pose danger…dugay na ni reklamo sa mga mangagi diha,” said Guardo.
The councilor is glad that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was allocated funds for the restoration and rehabilitation of the depressed area of the road. He said the DPWH has already made a design to rebuild the road better.
“I saw the construction and they prepared a solid foundation didto gyud sa ilawm sa kanang stable na soil especially na ni cave in gyud siya,“ said Guardo.
The construction works, according to Guardo, is exempted from the Oplan Likay Landslide since immediate repair and restoration is needed to prevent more accidents.
“There is no ongoing excavation and hauling diha, so pwede ra siya,” said Guardo. — FPL (FREEMAN)
