CEBU, Philippines — An alternative access road connecting barangays Malubog and Taptap to Transcentral Highway is now open to the public.
Councilor Jerry Guardo said the residents, especially farmers and businessmen, in the mountain barangays can now heave a sigh of relief from the inconvenience the ongoing road repairs of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have caused them.
“An alternative access road connecting Barangay Malubog and Barangay Taptap to Central Highway is now open to public and is now accessible using 4-wheel vehicle,” Guardo said.
The DPWH contractor requested for a total road closure while road construction works around Malubog and Taptap are ongoing. The City Council granted the request provided that there will be an alternative access.
“They came up with an alternative road nga tapad lang…beside lang gyud sa existing road nato nga which is subject for demolition and restoration,” Guardo told The Freeman.
Guardo was pleased that the alternate road was done ahead of schedule albeit just a “gravel road” at the moment. The councilor said this is better than going through a long route.
“I’m glad they were able to accomplish it ahead of schedule kaysa katong gi-reroute pa siya, daghan kaayong options, unya layo kaayo…Adto ka sa Adlaon, adto ka sa Sirao, unya ari ka sa Bonbon, Sudlon…Unya ang kaning Sirao guba sad biya kay sige’g ga landslide, so ang foundation sa dalan lisod kaayo,” said Guardo.
He said the DPWH is planning to asphalt the access road to provide convenience to the motorists.
“Dako kaayo nag matabang na access road sa mga stakeholders–mga nag-operate og businesses sa bukid, atong mga tourist spots didto, mga naninda na tindahan, walay turista…Also atong mga farmers, lisod sila’g transport sa ilang products, ang mga residents didto, mga workers, mga estudyante…Good thing they are able to accomplish earlier and lessen the inconvenience of these people,” said Guardo. — FPL (FREEMAN)
