CEBU, Philippines —  A construction worker was arrested for allegedly selling at least two kilos of shabu worth P13.6 million to an undercover anti-narcotics cop during a buy-bust operation Monday dawn in Sitio West Binabag, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, Cebu.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 director B/Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba identified the suspect as Dondonico Pacot Duaban, 26, resident of Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.

Duaban had been under police surveillance for almost two months before his arrest. According to Alba, Duaban was operating along with his brother Mark Pacot Duaban, who is in prison at Cebu City Jail.

Their areas of operations span from Cebu City to as far as Danao City in the north.

Based on the intelligence report the police have gathered, the Duaban brothers got their drug supply from Manila.

“Ang source nito, (based on the) information we received, is all the way from Manila,” Alba said.

The top policeman in the region said they have already coordinated with their counterparts in Manila to track down the source.

Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) director Col. Rommel Ochave believes that there are other drug personalities involved in Duaban’s operation. Ochave is optimistic that they will be able to arrest Duaban’s cohorts soon.

“Ongoing ang ating investigation, later on maaresto rin natin yong mga kasama. We have also coordinated with our counter parts in Manila to conduct investigation doon sa source para at least doon ma neutralize din yung source ng shabu,” said Ochave.

A team of operatives from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of CPPO led by Lt. Col. Mark Lester Eteroza arrested Duaban and seized from his possession at least 2 kilos of suspected shabu worth P13.6 million.

The illegal drugs were stashed in 10 large packs and in a Chinese tea bag. Duaban is now detained at the CPPO detention facility while charges are being prepared for filing after the holidays. — FPL (FREEMAN)
