Army leads Carbon cleanup drive
CEBU, Philippines — Members of the 14th Civil Military Operations (CMO) Batallion of the Philippine Army led the cleanup drive at the Unit III Bagsakan, Carbon Public Market in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City early morning Saturday.
They were joined by members of Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) and Tau Gamma Phi fraternities, Ermita Fisherfolks Association and Landing Area Vendors Organization Seaside.
Zosizmo Potot, president of LAVO Seaside, said they help clean up garbage brought by floods during heavy rains from the uptown area.
Potot said they are planning to put a net at the waterways to prevent garbage from going through the sea.
This is their way of contributing to the dream of Mayor Michael Rama for a Singapore-like Cebu City.
The cleanup was just one of the similar activities conducted in creeks and rivers after the heavy flooding in the city last month.
After the cleanup, the participants held a boodle fight. — Banat News, GMR (FREEMAN)
