Ammunition, contraband seized by Cebu Customs
CEBU, Philippines — Bureau of Customs Cebu District Collector Charlito Martin Mendoza has issued a warrant of seizure and detention (WSD) against undeclared rounds of ammunition and anti- social goods found inside a shipment of personal and household items.
Mendoza immediately issued the WSD after finding probable cause for violations of Sections 117 and 118 in relation to Section 1113 (F) and (L-5) of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
According to the bureau’s Facebook post, port personnel, together with officers from the Enforcement and Security Service, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, discovered the undeclared items during a physical examination.
“The joint operatives found pointed pellets, and numerous rounds of ammunition without the required clearances from the Firearms and Explosives Unit-Philippine National Police,” it said.
The bureau continues to remind the public to check the nature of goods intended for importation, secure the necessary import permits and clearances, and properly declare the goods to avoid seizure.
The BOC, under the leadership of Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz, remains stringent in implementing its mandate of border protection in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. — JMO (FREEMAN)
