Cebu among the sites for Tourism Job Fair
CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Tourism headed by Cebuana Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco is gearing up for the nationwide “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! Philippine Tourism Job Fair” which will include Cebu as one of the sites next month.
Along with this, Frasco announced via social media that it will officially forge a partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the tourism job fair program tomorrow, August 30.
This program is expected to provide the much needed push in the revitalization of the tourism industry’s manpower needs derailed by the pandemic.
Aimed primarily at providing a bridge and impetus for employment opportunities in the tourism sector, Frasco said they will be signing the MOU with Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.
“We are prioritizing the provision of employment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector in response to the severe losses in income and livelihood due to the pandemic, and the present shortage of workforce in the tourism industry,” Frasco said.
The Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso Job Fairs, Frasco added “will help our fellow Filipinos find jobs while helping the accommodation and services sector address workforce shortages, resulting in the continued recovery of the tourism industry as a whole.”
The Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! Philippine Tourism Job Fair, on the other hand, will be launched during the Hotels Supplier Show on September 22 to 24 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Mall of Asia Complex.
Global-Link MP, the organizer of the Hotels Supplier Show, offered 50 free booths for the job fair program accordingly.
The job fair itself, will be a multi-month campaign and will conclude in May 2023 to coincide with the 50th Founding Anniversary of the DOT.
Among the other initial job fair locations include Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
Aside from employment opportunities within the country, overseas hospitality career opportunities will be made available to Filipinos in a separate job fair in coordination with the Department of Migrant Workers and DOLE. — GMR (FREEMAN)
