CEBU, Philippines — At least three members of "Salisi Gang” from Manila were arrested for theft after victimizing a market vendor in Taboan Public Market in Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City on Saturday morning.
Suspects were identified as Mark Anthony Tabjan Rosales, 31, from Kagitingan, Tondo, Manila; Macmac Garcia Mendoza, 32, from Sto. Niño, Tondo, Manila; and Rovilyn Tabjan Rosales, 40, also from Kagitingan, Tondo, Manila.
Sawang Calero Police Station personnel together with their chief, Police Major Eraño Regidor, went to the area after they received report of the incident.
Upon arrival at the area, authorities then coordinated with the victim, Maria Luz Radegos Matara, 45, from Basak Pardo, Cebu City, a vendor at the Taboan Public Market.
The suspects were accused of taking the bag with cash, amounting P348,000 from the complainant’s table.
Police arrested Mark with the help of the bystanders and follow-up operations to identify the suspects.
The arrest of Mark led the police to arrest his companion - Macmac and Rovilyn - on the same day.
“Ang ilang buhaton ani kay salisi mani, i-distract nila ang kahera or ang tag-iya. Ang usa mulipot, mukuha na dayun sa kwarta," said Cebu City Police Office deputy director for administration, Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, in a press conference on Tuesday morning.
"Organized ni sila kay upon nga nadakpan sila, duna dayun ni-settle ngadto sa atong complainant. Gibayran ug gi-uli ang kwarta,” Parilla added
Parilla said he directed the police stations in the city to coordinate with them if they have received the same report.
"Atong directive sa station and even sa mga police offices nga kung duna silay record nga the same salisi, pwede nilag tan awn," Parilla said.
According to the acting deputy officer of Sawang Calero Police Station, Police Executive Master Sergeant Francisco Parilla, Jr., the target of the suspects are market vendors in Cebu.
“Kada-igo nilag usa ka lungsod, mobalhin sila og laing lungsod unya mag GPS (Global Positioning System) ni sila, mag taxi. Human mosirit nasad sila, toa napod sa laing target, mostly sa mga merkado,” Parilla Jr. said.
“Mudos ani nila naay mo-istorya sa tindera sa merkado unya naa pod modikit sa cashier. Storya-storyahan ang tindera unya mupalit kunuhay, unya mopalit jud hantod masalisihan nila,” he added.
