Sen. Imee leads distribution of cash, vegetables, fish in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines —  Thousands of Cebuanos received free vegetables and fish as well as P2,000 financial assistance through the Office of Senator Imee Marcos.

Marcos, who visited Cebu the other day, said this is one way of helping the people cope up with the rising cost of basic necessities as well as thanking the Cebuanos for their support for his younger brother, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In Consolacion town and in Cebu City, the beneficiaries were given P2,000 each by the Department of Social Welfare and Development through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation. The amount was given through the cooperation of the senator’s office.

Marcos led the distribution of the said assistance among Consolacion’s fishermen and farmers as AICS beneficiaries.

Incumbent Vice Mayor ug Mayor-elect Teresa “Nene” Alegado said that some of the AICS beneficiaries were supposed to receive the assistance last March but was halted due to the election ban.

“Kana sila rong amoang gitabangan not all of them are true blooded Consolacionanon, naay daghan nianhi aron makatrabaho as much as possible humane accommodation atoang ihatag sa ilaha,” said Alegado in a statement.

“Makapangayo lang ta ug either sa Senators support o direkta sa DSWD, wala gyud ni namo pasagdi ang among mga marginalized group amo gyud ning gipriority,” Alegado added.

The senator also went to Barangay Tisa in Cebu City and in Barangay Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City where she led the ceremonial distribution of several kinds of vegetable and fish to more than 2,000 beneficiaries.

Marcos, in her speech, thanked the beneficiaries on behalf of the Marcos family.

She said that the expectations of his brother’s administration are tremendous and overwhelming as not to fail the people.

The senator also urged everyone to work together regardless of the political side we are on.

“At the end of the day we are all Filipinos and no one else is coming to rescue the Philippines except us, the Filipino citizens,” the senator further said

Also, the senator visited Carbon Sunday Market to see and feel the local community of Carbon.

Prior to her tour at the Sunday Market, her team also recorded a video of her welcoming her viewers to the Santo Niño Chapel in Carbon.

At the archway of the Sunday Market, she was welcomed by the Carbon community with Sinulog dances. The senator danced with the Sinulog dancers and greeted the vendors and the visitors of the market.

In a short message at the Carbon Sunday Market, she thanked the Carbon community and Cebuanos for the landslide victory of her brother and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte in Cebu. — GMR (FREEMAN)
