P3.2 million shabu seized Sunday, 3 arrested

CEBU, Philippines —  At least P3.2 million worth of illegal drugs seized in two separate buy-bust operations which resulted in the arrest of three suspects Sunday night.

The operations were conducted by the personnel of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RDPEU)-7 all in one night.

The first operation was conducted on El Filibusterismo Street, Ermita, Cebu City at around 10:40 p.m. of the said day.

This resulted in the arrest of a certain Renato Lauronilla, 36, a resident of Sitio Kawayan, Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Police report said that Lauronilla is listed as a regional high-value individual in terms of illegal drug trading.

During the operation, the operatives were able to seize 14 pieces of plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P2.5 million weighing at least 350 grams.

At around 11:30 p.m. the same unit conducted another buy-bust operation at Sitio Ufeba, Bulacao, Cebu City that resulted in the arrest of another two individuals

Authorities identified the suspects as Sheila Teciembre, 37, a resident of the same place, and a certain Allen Ullamot Maramara, 37, a resident of Budlaan, Cebu City.

During the operation, a total of P680,000 worth of illegal drugs that weighed around 100 grams was seized.

Jail monitoring

Meanwhile, Jail Superintendent Jose Abueva of Cebu City Jail said they have continuous coordination with the police after several operations revealed connections with city jail inmates.

"We have continuous coordination with PNP in Cebu City and Talisay in monitoring the PDLs who have links outside jail facility...They are subjected to interrogation and investigation for their alleged involvement as they are segregated from the PDL general populace," said Abueva.

"Naa na tay mga na segregate those who are proven to have involvement/transactions outside jail facilities...continue gihapon atua monitoring in coordination with the PNP," he added. — GMR (FREEMAN)
