Cebu’s COVID-19 cases down to 37
CEBU, Philippines — The COVID-19 situation in Cebu province has further improved with only 37 active cases, recent data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.
Based on the December 14 provincial data, 23 of the active cases are experiencing mild symptoms, 11 have moderate infections, and three are suffering from severe conditions.
Moreover, PHO also noted that over 30 local government units in the province have no active cases of COVID-19.
But Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the province is not letting its guard down amid the downtrend in coronavirus cases.
“We are still preparing because as I’ve said, it’s not a matter of achieving zero. If we have zero cases, that’s very good. But if again duna na pud tay cases we have to be prepared, it’s not a matter of achieving always and forever zero COVID, but it’s a matter of managing it,” she said.
She said Cebu’s 16 provincial and district hospitals, towns and component cities are even ramping up their responses against COVID-19.
In fact, the province has allotted P3.2 billion for the province’s COVID-19 response and for boosting hospital capacity next year.
On the other hand, the province’s COVID-19 recoveries are now at 34, 656 or 92.9 percent based on its 37, 316 total cases recorded from April 20, 2020 to December 13, 2021.
The province also registered 2, 623 deaths, including 1,311 incidental findings and 147 with pending diagnosis. — KQD (FREEMAN)
