CEBU, Philippines — Acting Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has officially announced that Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio are Partido Barug PDP-Laban’s candidates for president and vice president, respectively, in the 2022 elections.
“Consistent with our position to align with who President Duterte anoints to lead our country after his term, and as members of PDP-Laban, our group Partido BARUG with Partido KUSUG, Panaghiusa and MARINO partylist in Cebu City supports Sen. Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Tesoro Go for President under PDDS, Pederalismo ng Digong Dakilang Samahan,” said Rama.
“As we have also committed to her, our alliance adopts Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as our candidate for Vice President,” he added.
Rama, Barug PDP-Laban’s standard bearer, also said that their party will support President Rodrigo Duterte, Harry Roque, and former vice president Jejomar Binay in their candidacies for senator.
He said they will complete the rest of the 12 senatorial aspirants to adopt in due time and take it “one at a time.”
No Sub
Meanwhile, Rama stressed that a substitution was not needed for their slate.
“We emphasize that our local alliance has been strong and consistent from the beginning that our union needed no substitution,” he said.
“With our alignment from the national level clear, it is now time for our group to continue to hit the ground, especially our fresh aspirants to the City Council and for Congress in the north; and our reelectionists never to be complacent,” he added.
Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia is Rama’s vice mayor.
Councilors Prisca Niña Mabatid and Eduardo Rama, Jr. will run as north district and south district House Representatives, respectively.
The party’s north district councilors include Peter Mancao, Pastor “Jun” Alcover, Edgardo “Jaypee” Labella II, Maria Pino, Noel Wenceslao, Melvin Legaspi, and incumbent councilors Joel Garganera and Jerry Guardo.
For the south district, they are Francis Esparis, Jocelyn Pesquera, Harry Eran, Rey Gealon, and incumbent councilors Donaldo “Dondon” Hontiveros, Phillip Zafra, James Anthony Cuenco, and Renato “Jun-Jun” Osmeña, Jr.
“I urge my teammates to focus and work hard and harder. No one should be left behind. We are in one boat with one captain,” said Rama. – JMD (FREEMAN)
