CBRT body validating affected entities
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Bus Rapid Transit - Project Implementation Unit (CBRT-PIU) has now started validating the list of identified project affected entities (PAEs) that include the public utility jeepney operators and drivers whose routes are affected by the implementation of the CBRT Project soon.
At least 22 routes traversing the alignment of the BRT Project had been identified including those going to Carbon area from Lahug, Apas, Capitol, Guadalupe, OPPRA, Banawa and Mabolo.
Although jeepneys will still be allowed to travel parallel to the BRT, the Department of Transportation has anticipated that there will be some that will be affected in its partial operation.
To minimize the possible risk and adverse effects including loss of income and livelihood, a social management plan has been set in place.
The mitigation management framework centers on four pillars that ensure the sustainability dimension of the MCIIITS-BRT including cooperative formation and strengthening, skills training for job matching and microenterprise engagement, alternative livelihood, and social financing.
To avail of the program, operators need to prepare official receipt/certificate of registration (OR/CR) of the unit driven, certificate of public conveyance or franchise, decision/confirmation, a 2x2 ID picture along with any valid ID and one beneficiary to enroll CBRT’s SMP.
Drivers also need to prepare a copy of the OR/CR of the unit driven, driver’s license, birth certificate, 2x2 ID picture and a copy of any valid ID and one beneficiary.
For beneficiaries of the program, they need to provide a copy of their birth certificate, 2x2 ID plus a valid ID and diploma or proof of educational program.
