CEBU, Philippines — The City government of Talisay through its Agriculture Department has completed the distribution of 50 carabaos under the Philippine Carabao Center’s Carabao Business Improvement Network (CBIN) project.
The first 29 heads were distributed in late October and the remaining 21 last November 4.
Based on Talisay Mayor Samsam’s post, the city distributed the carabaos to Sitio Campinsa in Barangay Manipis.
The donated carabaos have been specifically donated to the farmers’ organization in Sitio Campinsa, the Campinsa Manipis Multipurpose Cooperative.
The said cooperative was chosen by the Philippine Carabao Center to handle their Carabao milk processing plant in the area.
The Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) is an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture that has been mandated “to conserve, propagate, and promote the Carabao as a source of milk, meat, draft power and hide to benefit the rural farmers”.
“I look forward nga masugdan na ang atong giplano nga maghimo ug processing plant, especially nga mailhan sad ang Campinsa for this type of industry,” said Mayor Samsa Gullas in a post.
Along with this, Talisaynons and those in the neighboring LGUs will be able to buy and taste flavored milk and other dairy products without traveling far south.
Gullas is also hoping that they could come up with more projects for the farmers.
“It’s really important to value the efforts of our farmers nga bisan mag-uwan man o mo-init padayon gihapon sa ilang trabaho,” said Gullas. — KQD (FREEMAN)
