CEBU, Philippines — Acting Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has remarried and he introduced his wife formally to the public during the connection ceremony of the main bridge deck of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) on Friday, October 29, 2021.
“My wife, I would like to introduce her, never mind asking when my marriage is. Many may have known it… many are called but only few can be invited because of the constraint of the pandemic… Malou Mandanag-Rama… can you please stand up?” Rama asked his wife after acknowledging the VIPs at the event.
Rama wed Malou, the mother of his youngest son, in an intimate ceremony last October 28.
It was actually a double celebration for Rama as he also celebrated his birthday that day.
Present at the hotel reception was Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu who Rama worked very closely in 2020 when Cebu was battling its first surge of coronavirus infections. Cimatu eventually became a godfather of Rama’s youngest son who was christened last year.
Another retired general, Melquiades Feliciano, and wife Mia, who are both instrumental in the city’s COVID-19 response, were also present at the reception.
Mon Tulfo was also present at the venue while Senators Bong Go and Ronald Dela Rosa, and former senator Bongbong Marcos, sent their well wishes via a video greeting.
While they have kept their relationship private, Malou has been supporting Rama even before the latter was elected as vice mayor in the 2019 elections.
Sources said Malou used to work at the City Treasurer’s Office at City Hall. She is said to be hardworking, which is why they were not surprised that Rama would like her.
In the song Rama sang for his bride during their wedding are the words, “the latter filled the empty space in his heart and brought back sunshine in his life.” – JMO (FREEMAN)
