Pier 88 causeway, seabus in Liloan inaugurated
CEBU, Philippines — Ease of travel for thousands of residents from the northern part of Cebu is expected with the formal inauguration of Pier 88 causeway and the introduction of Topline’s Seabus that will serve routes in Liloan, Cebu, and Mactan.
Pier 88 is a three-phase port and commercial development project located in the municipality of Liloan, developed by the Topline Group of Companies.
“This is a long time coming. If I recall, sobra na siguro sa unom ka tuig ang atong pag sugod sa pag-conceptualize, sa pagkuha sa approval hangtud sa pag implementar na sa atong vision dinhi sa lungsod sa Liloan,” said Congressman Duke Frasco who recalled that he was still a mayor of Liloan when they started out with this plan.
Eugene Erik Lim, CEO of Topline, disclosed that they had to redesign the Pier 88 making it more suitable for a post-COVID-19 scenario.
Lim, together with his sister, Brigitte Lim Mueller, vice president of Topline, also stressed out that this project serves as living proof of resiliency and being able to stand up amidst all challenges in life, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
This project, which is in partnership with the Municipality of Liloan, Viking Land, FL International, and Topline Group of Companies, features a mixed-use daevelopment offering commercial spaces for lease. Slated to be fully operational in mid-2023, it will also house restaurants offering al fresco dining with the added attraction of a sea front vista, affording diners a scenic view with the gentle ocean breeze.
Along with this, the new Topline Seabus, a modern passenger vessel that can accommodate approximately 150 passengers was also introduced.
Frasco said this will not only help in the economy of the entire Cebu Province but will also give more valuable time to workers for their families with the ease of travel to Cebu City or Lapu-Lapu.
Frasco also looks forward to the realization of other plans for Liloan.
The plans include a road connecting the municipality of Liloan to Asturias and the Balamban area, a hospital, and a new Cebu Technological campus and more to it, the cityhood of Liloan.
Frasco said everything though would not be possible without the support of his wife, Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco and her mom, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Davao City Mayor Sara Durterte-Carpio being a sister to Liloan, the cooperation of the rest of its local officials, and its private partners. — KQD (FREEMAN)
